Pontillo

The first company, Officine Meccaniche Pontillo, was established in 1981 by Antonio Pontillo. As years went by, the company achieved an important position in the field of precision mechanics thanks to the devotion of the owner of the firm and the cooperation of company’s members. Today Officine Meccaniche Pontillo has become an important reference point for domestic and foreign manufacturers operating in the field of powder metallurgy and in the sector of precision mechanics devices.

In 2003 the new plant, covering about 4000 sq. meters of usable surface, became operating. This plant has a modern air-conditioned room where are located the metrology department, the department of electrosparkerosion machines and the department of coordinate computerized grinders and high speed milling machines.

Today the company has about 50 regular employees divided in two operative groups. Yearly turnover is over 4 millions euro. Machines and technological equipment are supported by a policy of steady investment in machinery and innovative technologies. The average of productive investment in the last few years is greater than 0.4 million euro per year. The company pays great attention to investments in scientific research and in pre-competitive development, both managed inside the company with support of Naples University Industrial Mechanics Department. In the last years the average investments in research and development were more than 0.3 million euro per year.

Quality System of Officine Meccaniche Pontillo & C. s.r.l. is certified according UNI ISO 9001:2000. Company is certified EMAS from 2006.

Future targets of OMP company

The company is steady engaged in activities of internal training to improve personnel technical knowledge and to favour the learning of new know-how. The company is also open minded to student stages in the factory in collaboration with Naples University Technical Department.

As far as know-how development is concerned the company is devoted to test further steel heath treatments (e.g. sub-zero..) and to complete its databank of surface coatings and related tribological benefits.
